AA — Amino Acids: The Building Blocks
The twenty fundamental molecules from which every protein, every enzyme, and every living structure is
assembled. They are where biology begins. They are the alphabet of existence. AA reminds us to
start from first principles: the foundational chemistry of life.
NOX — Night: The Unsolved Frontier
NOX means Night in multiple classical languages — the unexplored, the unknown, the dark
territory of disease mechanisms that medicine has yet to illuminate. It also references the NADPH oxidase family
of enzymes (NOX1–5, DUOX1–2), master regulators of reactive oxygen species that drive cancer, neurodegeneration,
cardiovascular disease, and inflammation. These are the oxidative frontiers AANOX enters.
The Synthesis: AANOX
AA enters NOX. Building blocks enter the darkness. And something new is made. This is not metaphor — it is the
literal scientific process: amino acid chemistry applied to the unsolved oxidative and degenerative mechanisms

Scientific Philosophy: Causal Intelligence, Not Correlational AI
AANOX was founded on the conviction that the pharmaceutical industry's 90% clinical failure rate is
fundamentally a causal reasoning failure — not a data or compute problem. Every AI model that identifies
"associations" between molecules and targets without understanding the causal mechanism is building on sand.
PharmaFlow is grounded in Structural Causal Models (SCMs), Pearl's
do-calculus, and interventional reasoning — formalisms that can answer "What would
happen if we intervened on target X?" rather than merely "What correlates with target X?"

Deepak Kakran — Founder & CEO
Systems architect and AI researcher with deep experience spanning pharmaceutical informatics, enterprise
software, and regulatory compliance engineering. Deepak architected PharmaFlow's core causal inference engine
and the GxP-native BioStore data layer.
Kusum Chawla — Co-Founder & Chief Scientific Officer
Biochemist and drug discovery scientist with expertise in protein biochemistry, medicinal chemistry, and
translational pharmacology. Kusum leads AANOX's scientific validation, wet-lab integration strategy, and
therapeutic pipeline development.
